Besides the speaking there will be races and games of every description for which cash prizes will be awarded the successful contestants. Two games of baseball will be played, one in the morning and one in the after noon. A feature of the day will be the balloon ascensions, several of which will be sent up in the morning and others in the afternoon. These bal loons are not toys, but are very large ones, and can easily be seen for miles. Another feature of these balloon ascensions will be a prize offered by an enterprising firm of the city for the return of an advertisement which will be sent up with the last balloon, late in the afternoon. We hope our carrier, Air. Forest Huggins, will get it, for he deserves it, if anybody does. He is a good mail carrier and is kind to his patrons. We were sorry to heap of the death of Mr. Bud Wood, who lives up in the Aland neighborhood. Air. wiood had been in bad health for some months. He leaves a wife and four children to mourn their loss. He was the father of Dr. I. A. Wood, dentist, who once lived in Gaffney. Mr. AVood was well known in Gaffney and had many friends. His wife and children have the sympathy of their many friends. Air. That every person wno ; shall directly or indirectly keep or maintain by himself or associated or combining with others or who shall in any manner aid. assist, or abet in keeping or maintaining any club room in the town of Gaffney, or other place therein wherein any alcohol, liquors or beverages are received or kept for unlawful use, barter, or sale as a beverage, or for distrbution, or divi sion among the members of any club, or association by any means what ever, and every person, who shall re ceive, barter, sell, or assist or abet another in receiving, bartering or selling any alcohol liquors or beverage so received or kept, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine of _ not more than one hundred dollars or H be imprisoned not more than thirty ^ days.
