Prof. Theodore Spears has been re elected superintendent of the Gaff ney graded school for the ensuelng year. Prof. Spears has done a good work in Gaffney and it Is to be hoped that he will decide to remain as superintendent another year. Miss Nannie Gunter, of Converse College, will arrive In Gaffnej tomor row afternoon, accompanied by Miss Juanita Wilkins. While young Bryan Huskey was chopping wood a few days ago he made what is called a mlsllck, and cut one of his feet severely with the axe. Mr. John Motte, one of the engin eers at the Gaffney Manufacturing Company, had the misfortune to break one of his arms one day this week." Ethic Rippy, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Rippy, died Sunday afternoon at 1:23 o’clocb. He was burled at Buf falo churchyard on Monday, Rev. E. 1 G. Ross conducting the funeral. B. Steedly, assisted by Dr. J. M. Caldwell, performed an exceed ingly delicate and difficult operation yesterday upon the young son of Mr. Price Martin. He removed a section of one of bis ribs and cut from the liver an abcess from which a lot of pus was discharged. We understand that the operation was entirely suc cessful and that the young man is doing well. Should the efforts of the boys of the Gaffney baseball team be success ful there will bo a game of ball be tween the Gaffney Club and the Cow- pens Club on the local diamond next Wednesday.
