The Ckiffney baseball team re turned Saturday night from Fair Forest where they engaged In a three-day’s battle with the' famous Tyger team composed of some of the fastest players in Spartanburg bounty. The Gaffney team while composed of good material showed a lack of practice and organization and lost three games. 1—0, 4—3 and 7—0. The following detailed score of the first game is the only official score secured. The members of the term are loud in their praise of Fair Forest and the splendid reception accorded them by the good residents of the town. Luck figured largely In the first and second games. As will be seen by the score Gaffney out-hit and out-fielded the Tyger club and had more men loft on bases. The hits didn't come In the pinches and fortune smiled the other tvay. For years he lias spent a great part of his time in hospitals, receiving treatment for stomach and other ail ments. He recently left the Presby terian hospital only to apply immedi ately for admission to the County hos pital. There he lay in his lasl day after day and week .after week with out enough strength to stand alone. Herman Bauer, occupying the bed next to Mclllvaue's, died in great ago ny. Melllvane watched Bauer sharp ly in his struggles with death, and as Bauer grew weaker Melllvane grew stronger.
