It is reproduced here because it relates to a chapter in the life-story of one of Gaffney’s promi nent, citizens: Gaffney, June 13—A romance of peculiar inrerest has just R aked out. Its origin dates hack to 18G1, when a company of South Carolina soldiers were on picket duty at Centreville, near Fairfax cour- house.
