The Woman’s Club met at tho re sidence of Mrs. J. Landrum Brown yesterday afternoon and studied Lowell. The afternoon proved one of the most pleasant in the history of the club. W. C. Parris, who has been con nected with L. W. McGuinn for the past three* years, has resigned to take a position in Asheville, N. C. Mr. Parris left Monday morning for Asheville to begin his new duties. This will bo in lieu of the Alpine Entertainers, which failed to appear last Tuesday night on account of the Illness of two members of the troupe. Charles Johnson, the nine-year-old son of Mr. R. E. Johnson, fell from a tree near his home on Robertson street Thursday afternoon, breaking his shoulder bone. A doctor was, Immediately summoned ^find the broken bone. At this ^fcing the little sufferer is resting easly. The Sorosis Club met at the resi dence of Mrs. W. H. Smith Tuesday afternoon, and was addressed by Dr. Lee Davis Ixidge. of Limestone Col lege. The club is studying South Carolina history, but Dr. Lodge’s subject was “How to Study History, and was one of the most entertain ing and instructive that it. has been the Pleasure of the club to enjoy re cently. Those who failed to see the Lyman Twins at the Star Theatre last night missed one of the very best show’s that has ever been to Gaffney. It v. . 3 a small company, but each and everv one worked like a heaver and there was scarcely a dull moment fmm the rise of the curtain in the first act to tho fall in the last act. ’Tis true that there was nothing to the plot, but the singing was tuneful and catchy and the evolutions at tractive.
