Excitement Yesterday.
The I^ger was apprised yester
dav of the fact that there was some
thing doing Ip the city. Always anx

was said to be the center of excite
ment. Upon arriving there, “B. B.”
found the street to quite a distance
thronged with those who seemed to
be just about to dring something or
had just finished drinking something,
which something, it developed, was
Schnanns ginger ale. Always willing
to do likewise, “B. B.” hastened In to
what the excitement was. He
went in by the back door, not know
ing whether or not the store was in
the hands of Jesse James and his
gang. When once inside. “B. B.” |
found the crowd to be peaceful citi- j
zens of Gaffney, who were improving;

known quanritv in Gaffney, that of
“getting something for nothing.”
Mr. *5. H. Gaines, the manufacturer!

Death of a Good Man.
On last Sunday afternoon, at 6:30
o’clock, the grim monster, Death, laid
his chilly hands upon the brow of our
beloved brother, father, husband and
friend, Mr. J. M. O'Sullivan and his
spirit went back to the God who gave
It.
For more than four months his
health had been failing, but he was
confined to hbi bed only about a
month. He spent his last illness at
the residence of his daughter, Mrs.
O. R. Campbell, of this nlace.
Mr. O’Sullivan was fifty-nine years
of age and leaves a wife, eight child
ren, all married, and a mother, to
mourn their loss.
He was for more than twentv ve*rs
a member of the Methodist Episcopal
Church. South, holding his member
ship at Cannon’s Camp Ground. His
life was a most consistent one and
in his last hours he gave manv testi
monials that all would be well with
him. His honest, quiet, upright life
made for him a host of friends wher
ever he was known.
His remains were carried to Can
non’s Camp Ground for interment,
where a large crowd of sorrowing
friends and acquaintances had gath
ered to pay their last respects to the
deceased friend and brother.
After impressive services were
conducted by Rev. R. A. Brock, assist
ed by the writer, he ’/as laid to rest
t- await the resurrection morn.
