We are experiencing the heaviest Fall Trade now that we
have ever had this early in the season, and
attribute it to the fact that our stocks are
full, well selected andjpleaseing. If you
haven’t visited our store recently
you could hardly recognize the
stock, so many have been
the additions.
The price of cotton was 9 3-4 cm the
Gaffney market yesterday.
The Gaffney Live Stock Company
sold eight new buggies Tuesday.
Rev. G. P. Hamrick Is assisting In
a protracted meeting at Mount Zion,
Spartanburg county, this week.
Mrs. Alice Venable, of Jefferson,
Ga., arrived in the city Wednesday
on a visit to her daughter, Mrs. Rol
and Gaines.
The weather people “hit It” pretty
well Tuesday, as the rain did come;
but it was light, and not much more
than enough to lay the dust.
The lime business seems to be in
a flourishing condition this season, as
the lime companies are kept busy
filling orders for their product.
Mayor Gaffney had one lone sinner
1 before the city’s bar of justice yes-
| terday. The case was a “plain
drunk,” and the fine $‘J.50. It was
I paid. •
The Le Ter is indebted to Tdr. J.'
H. Lipscomb for some nice turnips
which he brought us yeste rday.
They are a fine variety, and were
grown on Mr. Lipscomb’s farm near
| Goucher.
Quite a number of the Gaffney peo
ple, and some of the young ladies
from Limestone College, will go to
Spartanburg this afternoon to see
i "The Clansman.” which will lie in |
i that city tonight.
Rev. Mr. Listen will preach at
Salem church Sunday morning at 11
o’clock. Everybody in the communi
ty is invited to hear him, and all the
members of the church are especially
requested to-be present.
W. N. Austell made a land deal
Wednesday by which he acouired
nesday seventeen acres of the Nott
property near Limestone. The lot is
a valuable one, and Mr. Austell will
probably build upon it at an early
dav.
To the special services at Lime
stone Street church, conducted by
Leitch and Marshall, the public is
invited. There will be an afternoon
service at 4 o'clock for those who
cannot come at night. The after
noon services will begin Tuesday.
