has caused some comment in this
part of tile country, and while there
are no trains hereabout that maintain
such lightning-like schedules, it is
pretty evident that there are sections
of railroad in South Carolina where
limited trains do make more than a
mile a minute for stretches of several
miles at a clip.

iott Discusses Plan for Clean
College Athletics.
Asheville. N. C., June 22.—The
Southern College Students’ Y. M. C.
A. conference here this evening dis
cussed clean athletics,
of Brooklyn, a former
baseball player of Northwestern Uni
versity, declared that the only remedy
for evils in collegiate athletics is for
men of high moral tone to compete
for places on the teams. ’Speaking of
distinct evils, Mr. Elliott said that
the man who sold his team signals,
an instance of which was mentioned,
ought to be rotten-egged out of col
lege.
