NEW YORK FASHIONS For Children and Grown Ups; Ma terials; Suspender Gowns. Notwithstanding the extreme ela boration seen in many of the seasons productions there are many modish gowns that are extremely simple and easily produced by any woman who has a certain amount of faculty in the direction of dressmaking. In children’s wear especially this note of simplicity and practicality is very much in evidence. Wahsable Materials. While gowns for grown ups may be made of washable material and never see the laundry, the children s apparel must be chosen with direct reference to frequent washing. Lin ens in natural colors, in white, and in deep blues and rose pinks and greens are as much in vogue this sea son as last, and may be plain and tail- ormade or elaborate with embroi deries as taste inclines. Where plain tailor styles are chosen contrasts of color are stylishly introduced by having the hat, belt, and shoes or hose in matching tone . Suspender Gowns. Suspender gowns bid fair to rage and appear quite suitable too if they are judiciously managed. Some of the best examples have the suspender in shawl form with the point coming from the shoulder and falling over the top of the sleeve cap fashion. This handsome street costume, the | illustration of which is supplied by The Toilettes Fashion Co., is of blue and brown mohair. The gores of the skirt, front and side, are overlapping and finished with stitching. Pieces of graduated lengths are inserted in the seams at the first and second gores, giving an overskirt suggestion ,and they are finished with stitching and loop buttons. Waiste with short basque has two statched plaits and overlapping front, trimmed with the buttons and loops, as are also leg-’o- mutton sleeves. Girdle and tie of brown taffeta. Sashes and Girdles. Never was there a season when rib bon played a more important part in the dress of young and old. Sashes and girdles are used with all sorts of costumes, and be it whispered are es pecially helpful in refurbishing an old gown, or giving variety to a solitary plain one. The girdles vary from those of medium width pointed with the point up in the back and down in front, giving even greater slope than with the “dip,” which is completely out of date. some instances with small, mannish velvet collar. Kidney trouble has become so prevalent that it is not uncommon for a child to be born afflicted with weak kid neys. If the child urin- _ ates too often, if the urine scalds the flesh or if, when the child reaches an age when it should be able to control the passage, it is yet afflicted with bed-wetting, depend upon it. the cause of the difficulty is kidney trouble, and the first step should be towards the treatment of these important organs. This unpleasant trouble is due to a diseased condition of the kidneys and bladder and not to a habit as most people suppose. Women as well as men are made mis erable with kidney and bladder trouble, and both need the same great remedy. The mild and the immediate effect of Swamp-Root is soon realized.
