V«\ increase of insanity. W E feel very grateful to the citizens of Cherokee County for favoring us with their trade during the years 1902, 1903 and 1904; also we have every reason to believe that they are all well pleased with the Pianos, • Organs and Sewing Machines that they bought from us, as they are beginning now to see that quality figures more than a few dollars in the purchase of an article that is to be used for a long period of time, if not for a lifetime. To those who have not yet bought Pianos, Organs and Sewing Machines from us, we invite you to come and see our goods and get our prices, which will be very low during the next 30 days. We are are at all times able and willing to make every promise true and every guarantee good. So come and see our many different styles of Organs and New Home Sewing Machines at our store on Limestone St. Abbott Bros. MONAZITE Bought all during the year at highest prices. Chtcairo Citisena Said to Be Headed In That Direction. One person In every 150 in Chicago Is insane, according to a dispatch from tin t city to the New York World. One person in every five is predisposed to insanity. This is asserted in the re- po t of Dr. V. H. Podstata, superin- teadent of the Dunning Insane asylum. Many more prominent authorities, men who have studied the subject sci entifically for years, state that insanity has increased there rapidly in the last ten years. It has Increased all over the world, but more rapidly in Chica go than elsewhere. The percentage of insanity to 1,000,000 inhabitants has quadrupled in fifty years. “At the present rate of the develop ment of insanity, according to the world’s statistics,” says Dr. James P. Lynch, “and with present conditions of work and llvfng unaltered, half of the civilized world will be more or less insane 500 years from now, and in an other 200 years from that time, under the same conditions, most of the Cau casian race will be mentally deranged and civilization wiped off the face of the earth by the multitudes of Goths and vandals of Asia.” The hardest bird to catch is the eagle on a $20 gold piece.
