Edwards, an architect of Co lumbia. who has made plans for and supervised the construction of sev eral prominent buildings in Gaffney, was in the city Friday. From several sections of the coun ty we learn that many farmers planted part of their cotton crop last week, and that there aremany who haven’t planted either corn or cotton yet. The Gaffney Manufacturing Com pany has finished putting in its eight inch water main from its property on Sandy Run to its mills, and will begin the construction of a pumping sta tion on the Run at once. J. H. Curry has the contract to erect the build ings. All who attended the Presbytery last week left the city Friday. Those with whom we came in contact ex pressed themselves as pleased with their visit to our city. We miss them now that they are gone and will be glad to have any one of them, or all of them, come to see us again. Dr. Simms expects to begin a week of services on the fourth Sabbath in this month. He changed the an nouncement as made on Sabbath morning from the third to the fourth Sabbath on account of the work of the library association which he learns is arranging an entertainment that will draw on the people for daily practice for some time. The Cooper and Griffith societies at Limestone College have about raised enough money to build their long contemplated society hall. The building will cost about $2,000, of which sum Ex-Mayor J. Q. Little gave the munificent sum of $500, and as the largest subscriber to the fund, he will have charge of the con struction of the building.
