Mr. D. J. Hamrick and family, of Boiling Springs, N. C., have moved to the city and are occupying the handsome cottage of Mrs. Gray, on Logan street. Mr. Hamrick is an experienced marble cutter and has been engagd iu tbe business in North Carolina many years. He has moved to Gaffney to begin tbe business here where be has a fine opening. The Ledger extends a cordial welcome to Mr. Hamrick and bis family and wish him success in bis venture in our city. Today is “ground bog” day, and according to tradition as old, at least, as when there was plenty of ground hogs in this country, that the ground bog will come out of bis winter borne on that day at noon and if be sees bis shadow be will return to his den and remain six weeks on account of tbe cold and bad weather which is sure to follow. But ou tbe contrary, if be finds tbe day cloudy be stays out in anticipation of tbe early spring and fine weather that will follow.
