The Hoys Have Caught the Town With Their Show. Wednesday night, when the cur tain rises at the Star Theatre to the tune of a good old plantation melody, and “the boys from the boarding house” look out at the|audience, they are apt to see few, if any, vacant seats. All Gaffney is talking about ‘Pap Lipscomb’s” Minstrels. Some of the most popular boys in town are included in the roster, and they have arranged a program that would do j credit to a professional aggregation The fact, too, that the proceeds are to be given to charity—probably in the shape of a Christmas tree for the poor children of the city—makes it more in jumbent on the people to turn out However, the entertainment itself is not an object of charity, for all who attend will get their money’s worth of amusement. The voices are good, the songs selected are new and | catchy, and the end men have a string of jokes that will keep the laughs going. The olio will introduce several special acts that are most; creditable and novel. The curtain will go up at 8:30; sharp, Wednesday night. The price of admission is only 25 cents, anv first floor seats, no reserves, and 15 cents for gallery seats. Wardlaw, of Union, an able and aUractivo preacher, will preach at the Presbyterian cburcb next Friday night at seven o’clock, and on Saturday at eleven a. m Communion service Sucday morning Dr. Wardlaw will preach at all these services, and the members of the charch are earnestly requested to be present, and the public is most cordially invited. Friday evening the business portion of Gaffney was somewhat disturbed by the report of a gun on Limestone street, near Frederick An investiga tion disclosed the fact that Mr. Rufus Littlejohn, one of the most quiet and unassuming gentlemen in Gaffney, had attempted the life of Dan—a fav orite dog of Mr. T. B. Butler It seems that the dog has had a grudge against Mr Littlejohn for more than a year and at every opportunity he would make life unpleasant for Mr. Littlejohn, who, becoming alarmed at the frequent attacks of the dog, had prepared himself. Mr. Littlejohn was required to put up a bond for his ap pearance before Mayor Little for shooting in the street, but the mayoi very promptly discharged Mr. Little john. In the interim Dan made himself scarce and for several days nothing was seen of him, but he showed up Sunday, not a great deal the worst for having come in contact with a gun in the hands of a bad marksman.
