Parker, our hustling bicycle man, will leave us on the first of October for a broader field in which to display his knowledge of wheels. “Ell” has accepted a lucrative oosition with the Alexander-Elyea Co., of Atlanta, Ga.. the largest bicycle concern in the southern states, where he will have charge of the brazing department. He thoroughly understands his business, having stood an examination at the American Cycle company’s establish ment in Washington, D. O., and re ceived a diploma, and we feel sure he will fill his new position with credit to himself and satisfaction to his employers. We regret to have Ellie leave us, but our best wishes will go with him to his new home. The OiilTney l.mul Matter. In the case of the Gaffney heirs vs. A. N. Wood, Lipscomb, et al., Mr. Lewis, the referee, finished taking the testimony the first of the week, and will return to Gaffney one day in the near future to hear argument The plaintiffs are represented by Hart A Bell, N. W. Hardin and Hall <t Willis. The defendants by Butler it Osborne and J. C. Jefferies. This case is for rent on certain lands in Gaffney that were dteled by the Gaffney heirs to the Southern Railway company for railroad pur poses and which, by consent of said company, have been used,by defend ants for their private purposes. It has been pending for some time and the result is looked to with much in terest. Opening of Uniestone. Limestone College began her fall terra yesterday morning with the largest number of students that have been present at any previous opening since the days of the Curtises. Quite a number of young ladies are yet to come, and the indications are that the college building will be crowded from basement to attic with the “youth and beauty” of our fair Southland. Hurrah for Limestone! May she have a prosperous session this year, and for all succeeding years! Hebrew New Year. The Hebrew New Year, Rosh Hash- anob, which started in Monday at 6 p. m., has been celebrated by our Hebrew fellow citizens. All of their places of business were closed from Monday evening till Wednesday evening, during which time they abstained from all business and re ligiously devoted themselves to the observance of this, one of their im portant holidays.
