We want correspondents who can get and write the news. The discussion of measures and things is not within the province of a new writer. Such things should be done over the writer’s name. We want ews, such as will be of interest and service to the reading public. ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ We had the pleasure yesterday to meet our old friend, Ool. Bill Neal. He is as fat and rotund as ever and seems to be enjoying life. Mr. Neal has been a victim of circumstances, but we like him. We like his style, we like his treatment of his fellows, and we wish him well, for he is doing more good now in selling good roads machinery than in any other calling; and if he will but keep it up he will have accomplished more in a few years than most men who profess to love their country but do a mighty little to show their devotion—except talk. ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ There is a man somewhere who has sufficient mental ability to compre hend the needs and possibilities of Cherokee county; to fully compre hend the wonders of herjlatent pow ers and to formulate plans to make them turn loose their fullest strength to supply the county, the people and the country with the comforts and wealth for which nature designed them, and show to the world what his research, his love of the country and her people have made possible in our midst. “Timid capital" will some time take up his ideas and the county will then bloom like a rose from “the fork" to the North Carolina line and from Pacolet to King’s creek. Next Sunday aervioea will be con ducted in the morning as usual; Sun day school 9:45; morning service 11; mission bands and Baraca class business meeting in the afternoon. There will be no service at night, but ut 5 p. m, there will be a ves per communion service at which tne gentlemen of the choir will render ! some male quartette and solo work. 1 These vesper services are growing in j favor with the congregation. At the ! last vesper communion service ! there was a larger attendance than at any previous communion service for years. It is desired that there be a large attendance of the membership next Sunday afternoon. Koad Machinery In Operation. The traction engines were carried ; out to the rock piles Tuesday morn ing, where the crusher had begun work Monday afternoon. The ma chines ail worked well and began permanent road building on the Union road just below W. L. Morgan’s and proceeding with the work on the Smith Ford road below the Union road forks. The machines will do the work. Have the work properly laid out and the machines properly handled and Cherokee will surely have good roads. Mr. J. M.
