Co., was then called and cour-umed nearly the entire day. The jury brought in a verdict oI $50 00 ■n favor of the pleintifi J. Emile Harley and .1 C. O ts represented the plaintiff, and Butler cfc Osborne represented the railroad. On Wednesday the following cases were heard : The appeal of J. I. Sar- ratt vs. Gaffney Live Stock Co. from the magistrate’s decision. N. W. Hardin represented the respondent, and J. B. Bell the appellant Decis ion reversed in favor or The Gaffney Live StocK Cj and remanded back for a new trial. Tne appeal of in Re D. The court decided m favor of the appellant, and gave Mr. Gaston his homestead in the lands free from mortgage, but sus tained the appraisers in assigning itts than $500 00 personal property, on the ground that it was Mr. Gas ton’s own negligence in failing to re turn it to the appraisers. J. C. Otts represented the appellant, and X. W. Hardin tht respondtnt, or the cred itors. The decision in the case of Phillips vs. Ellis was reversed. X. W. Hardin for appallent and Butler for respon dent. The appeal in cas 3 of Baker vs. Spake was affirmed bv the cour5. Butler it Osborne for appellant, J. E. Webster for respondent. THE WAR WITH SPAIN. Magic Lantern Illustrating the Spanish- American War at Court House Tonight. There will be a stereoptican enter tainment tonight at the court house under the auspices of the B. Y. P. U. of the First Baptist church. A splendid lot of views illustrating the scenes of the late war in Cuba and the Philippines will be presented, and the programme will he inter spersed with baud music produced by one of the most powerful grapho- phones manufactured. The proceeds of the entertainment will be devoted to the stereoptican fund of the First Baptist church, and go to pay for the free presentation of sacred themes in the future. Admission, adults 20 cents; children under fifteen years, 10 cents. Crystal Wedding and Itlrthday Feasts. The relatives and friends of Mr and Mrs. Tamie E. Waters were in vited to their home on the 1st inst , to a dinner given in honor of Mrs. Waters’ birthday. Each one of the guests presented her with a valuable and useful present arid all enjoyed the sumptuous dinner which the bos- pitable hostess prepared and served so well. Again on the 4th inst., the relatives and friends were called to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie E. Waters, this being the occasion of their crys tal wedding. As is their custom they entertained their friends in royal style. Theyreceivid many valuable and useful presents.
