LARKIN LITTLE DEAD. Died In MUniHiilppI—Boily Brought home tor Burial. Mr. Lukin Lit tie of this place died in Meridian, Miss., on the 9ih inst., after a protracted illness of cancer of the stomach. Mr. Little was the youngest son of the late Thomas Little, once a prominent man in this section, and who was a leader in (he movement in this section after the war mat made carpet baggers'scala wags and negroes polite, for which patriotic service he was forced by tbe U. S. army to take refuge in the west, where he died su. denly many years ago. He wa-i the ycung-'tt brother id Mayor John Q Little, Mr. Worth Little and Mrs. Mar.. L n khart, cf tnis city. Mr. Little had been engaged in raino&'J woik for many years and was considered one of the best managers of ianor in the country. He hud a fine knowledge of his business and managed it with superior judgment, which made his services sought by prominent contract- rs all over the South. He is the first to plant we have, heard of and we trust he will be rewarded with a big crop. u Plans are being made now for a number of new dwelling!* and busi- ness bouses which will be built in Gaffney this year. Mr R W Compton, of Waterloo, who has been employed for some time in the Gaffney Manufacturing Company’s machine shops, has re signed his position and returned to his home. Mr. Compton made many friends while here and we regret to have him leave us. It is queer that no matter how rich you are you can’t buy happiness, but no matter how poor you are, you can get- ali the unhappiness you want for nothing.
