Before tjoiiig into a description of mate Ial8.|thi8 fact should be b« f e in mind, that however elaborate fancy fabrics may seem to be in description, only goods that are characteristically refill* d and comparativly modest in color and effect, are at all regarded with favor by either the merchant or the first-class dressmakers and con sumers. The situation as far as fabrics are concerned and their uses, grows more c triplicated every momeub. Never before in years were so many combi nations in vogue as to-day. The general form is to cling to what is called natural color—that is, outeidc of the dyes used to tint plain wool goods—and to produce contrasts in silk and velvet. In general costuming, black and black and white effects have sold b st. Blues are next in quantity, brawns aid tan shades follow and then a tendency toward reds and some greens as well as gray complete the list. ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ Mis?.
