Our business men report fair busi ness and good collections. The Indian summer, like every thing else in Gaffney, is fine The hay is annul all housed, and the crop seems to be a big one. The South Carolina State Fair will open in Columbia next Monday. The slump in the price of cotton has decreased the receipts in Gaffney. Some of our farmers are selling wagon loads of sweet potatoes to our grocery men. R 8. Cook has bought Rowan Jen nings' farm, two miles east of the city on the Draytonville road Our brick machines must keep making brick. Gaffney’s immediate demands will then exceed their ca pacities. We are not haearing much of the Cherokee hog crop. A few people are, however, beginning to talk of big ones. Sam M. Littlejohn has bought 33 | feet front by 310 feet back, of the Kendrick lot corner of Limestone and Meadow streets and will build an up- j to-date brick store bouse on it. The spectators and general advisers who have Pet n ass< mbied about the .Star theatre and offic • building sii ce the work began have about retired and turned the work over to the builders.
