The Buckeye Mower is often spoke of as “The Father of Mowers.” The prase, with all the respect implied by it, is thoroughly justilied. The Buckeye was the lirst machine made expressly for grass cutting, drawn by horses. All grass cutting b\ r horse-power previous to the Buckeye invention, that is, pre vious to 1855, was done by reapers. The latter was the only mower, without a single* exception, having a single drive-wheel and a rigid cutter-bar, as all such machines have to-day. In 1855, 1850 and 1857 the Buckeye House made the only mowers in the world that moved on' two drive-wheels, that had hinged bars, lever for tilting, lever for raising the bar, and other devices rded as indispensable. News reached us yesterday morning that the little three-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Luther lionuer, of (ioucher, died at the home of her parents cany Wednesday night. She had only been sick a few hours; but diptheria had seized her and she rapidly grew worse in spiu, 0 f all that could be done to stay the pf Q . gress of the disease, tnd the end was soon at hand The little body was tenderly laid away in the old country burylng- ground at Goucbrr Creek church, nrur the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bon ner, in the presence of a few friends and relatives of the distressed family. Two of Mrs. Bonner's sisters live at this place, and they went down yesterday to attend the burial cere monies. which were conducted by Rev. F. C. Hickson, of this city. About the time of the burial at Goucher, another little life endeddn this city—the infant of Mr. and Mrs. Walker Moore. This little sulferer had b‘en sick about a week with a complication of diseases peculiar to infants, and the end, though a great blow to the fond parents, was not altogether unexpected. ' The remains were taken to Buffalo and will be buried at that place to day. Mr. and Mrs. Moore have only recently moved up into the city from fomf 'p'afPffnr little trasurcs; yet wo are well aware that sympathy, however sincere and well meant, falls far short of assuag ing the grief occasioned by such losses.
