the First Baptist church hero Sun

for the same purpose; and the follow

that visit:

The mayor’s court room was pretty
well crowded yesterday morning, but
mostly spectators. Bob Wilkins and
Fred Riley, two youths of color, were
on hand for disorderly conduct. The
case against Riley was dismissed ; but
Wilkins was not so fortunate, as he
was requested to pay a fine of $o.00.
He paid.
The next case was against a white
man who had been enjoying himself
for several days to the extent of vio
lating some of the city ordinances
made against such fun. He was
“given” 50 or twenty-five days on
the streets; but was finally granted
the alternative of leaving town. He
accepted the latter and hied himself
thencewards.
Another drunk and disorderly case
was offset by a fine of $11.50 or twen
ty-five days on the city streets.
The last case on the docket was for
disorderly conduct without the charge
of "drunk,” and it netted the city
treasury $0 10.
Saleftday.
Yesterday was salesday and quite
a nice lot of Gaffney real estate was
offered for sale, all of which brought
fair prices.
Rev. C. E. Robertson’s house and
lot was bid in by Clerk of the Court
J. Eb. Jefferies as agent at something
over $900.
The Brown lot and store-room now
occupied by J. G. Galloway was re
sold, bringing $1,551.
About fi'ty lots of the Gaffney
property was offered and brought
from $17 to $40 a lot. Twenty-nine
lots were sold in a bulk for a mill site
and brought $900, C. H. Gaffney be
ing the purchaser.
The W. A. Peeler stores and lot
were bid in by Hugo 8. Dodenhoff at
$2,250. It is understood that he was
agent for Dr. J. N. Nesbitt and Thcs.
H. Westrope.
