Robert Lipscomb and Henry Phil lips, two of our young sports, spent Sunday in Spartanburg. Mrs. W. Fletcher Smith went to Clifton Tuesday for a short visit to relatives. Mr. Gaff ney left here about fifteen years ago contemplated moving to gome town at an early day, and we can assure him that Gaffney would be proud to number him as one of her citizens. The second primary election was held ^ere Tuesday and the suspense is now over with the county candi dates and with the friends of those candidates, wtio had to contest again for the majority of votes. As will be seen by the tabulate re port in another column, J. V. Whelchel defeated J. H. Turner by a majority of 409 votes. M. B. McSweeney will succeed himself as governor. James H. Tillman will be lieuten ant governor. John H. Wharton will succeed W. D. Evans on the railroad commission. There was not a very large crowd at the last eieclion and evreything of Pacolet, was passed off quietly and oderly.
