There are dozens of remedies recommended for Scrofula, some of them no doubt being able to afford temporary relief, but S. S. S. is absolutely the only remedy which completely cures it. Scrofula is one of the most obstinate, deep-seated blood diseases, and is beyond the reach of the many so-called purifiers and tonics because some thing more than a mere tonic is required. S. S. S. is equal to any blood trouble, and never fails to cure Scrofula, because it goes down to the seat of the disease, thus permanently eliminating every trace of the taint. The sei ions consequences to which Scrofula surely leads should impress upon those afflicted with it the vital im portance of wasting no time upon treatment which can not possibly effect a cure. In many cases where the wrong treatment has been relied upon, complicated glandular swellings have resulted, for which the doctors insist that a dangerous surgical operation is necessary. . Mr. M. E. Many blood remedies were used, but without effect. Some one recommended S. S. S., and I began to improve ns soon as I had taken a few bottles. The city council in an adjourned meeting Wednesday night transacted considerable routine business, com pleted the supply bill for this year and decided to open two new streets. One beginning near Mr. J. Little’s residence on Frederick street and running through the block to Robin son street. The other is a direct ex tension of Buford street from near the Episcopal church to the Carpet Mill. It is now in order to organize three fire companies, and it is desired to have two companies composed of white men and one of colored men. Wood, J. A. Car- roll, «L R. Little, E. R. Cash, L. Baker and It. A. Jones. This is a Gaffney enterprise and the gentlemen named in the charter have the money and vim to push it to completion. There was a mass meeting of Cher okee citizens in Masonic Hall Tues day night in the interest of the pro posed Limestone cotton mill to be built in Gaffney. Col. T. B. Butler was called to the chair and Major N. 11. ! ittlejohn was requested to act as seer lary. Col Butler explained the obje, t of tlm meeting after which Messrs. J. A. Carroll, J. R Little uml E K.jCash made interesting and pointed addresses dealing intelligent ly with the mutter in hand. Business like enthusiasm pervaded the whole meeting and when the time came for subscriptions to the stock to be made, it came in with a rush.
