The* Cbnri-li Wan (Tmv.lvil to the Doom by The FrlemiH of the Contracting I’artlcx— A Reception at the Ifoinc of the Itrbte anil (.room. One of the prettiest weddings that has taken place in (Laffney this sea son took place at the first Baptist Church Wednesday evening. It was a social event that will long be re membered in this city. Although the weather was inclement every nook and corner in the prettily dec orated church was filled to overflow ing long before the hour announced for the ceremony to be performed. The ushers were taxed to their full est extent to provide seats for the throng and many there were who were compelled to stand. Promptly at 8:80 the strains of Mendelssohn’s wedding march peeled forth from the’orgun. Mr. Westrope was the organist and he never played better. The buzz of conversation that had been going on ceased and all eyes were turned toward the entrance. First came the ushers, then the at tendants and then the bride and groom. Never was bridal couple more composed. They marched down tht right aisle and were met on the rostum by the Rev. B. P. Robertson who invoked God’s blessing on the ordinance and then began the cere mony which made the couple hus band and wife. During the cere mony Miss Carroll sang in a sweet, tender strain “Oh promise me.” At the conclusion of the ceremony the bride and groom descended the ros tum and left the church by the left aisle. They were followed by the attendants in regular order. The church was very pretty dec orated with ferns and evergreens. From the chundalier swung five streamers that led to different points on the walls. The rostum and aisles were covered with white. The rear of the rostum was banked with ferns and evergreens, before which was a pair of candlesticks in which were burning candles that gave it a pretty eflect. The organ was literally cov ered with evergeens and almost com pletely shielded Mr. Westrope and Miss Carroll. Just before ascending the rostum the bride and groom passed under an archway of ever greens from which was suspended B. W. in large golden letters. This signified that the bride elect entered as Beona Wood. On descending they passed under a similar archway from which was suspended B. B., which signified that she was then Beona Brown. The bride was attired in an elegant wedding gown of white satin and was as a pretty as apicture. The groom wore the conventional black and was altogether manly and dignified. The attendants were Miss Nellie Wood and Mr. Thos. L. Brown, Miss Mary Brown and Mr. James W. Brown, of Cowpens, Miss Ida Wood and Mpynard Smith, Miss Florence Griffith and Mr. Wardlaw Moorman. The ushers were Cut. J. G. Wardlaw, Dr. J. N. Nesbitt, Dr. C. T. Lip scomb, Messrs. D. C. Ross, T. B. Clarkson and J. E. McArthur. When the bridal party reached the vestibule of the church they entered carriages and were driven to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Brown on Limestone Avenue, where a reception was held. The house was packed with the friends of the young couple. Refreshments were served and con gratulation extended. The presents were numerous and consisted of gold and silverware, useful and arnamen- tal pieces of bousehould goods, etc. An hour or so was most delightfully spent and those in attendance were reluctant to withdraw. The bride is one of Gaffney’s favor ites. She is a lady of sweet and amiable disposition and has won her way into the hearts of all by her un selfish devotion to her friends and her kindness towards the poor and needy. The groom is a most estima ble young gentleman, a true friend to his friends and will no doubt make an ideal husband. The friends of both will wish them all manner of good fori une and a longlife of hap piness. Among those from other places who were in attendance upon the wedding were: Mrs. J. N. Cudd and children, Mr. Robert Cudd and Mr. A. 1’. Cudd, of Spartanburg, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Car penter; Dr. and Mrs. B. R Brown, of Racolet, the guests of Mr. Moses Wood; Messrs. Horace and Ben Hill Brown, of Cowpons, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Lipscomb, Miss Mol- lio Brown, of I’acolet, the guest of Miss Nellie Wood. Miss Idell Brown and Master Taul Brown, sister and brother of the groom, came over from Spartanburg for the wedding. I'ncW) Klli-y fenniiiKton Dt-uil. Mr. Win. The hollow cheeks, the sunken eyes, the dark, puffy circles under the eyes the sallow parsnip-colored complex ion indicates it. A physician would ask if you had rheumatism, a dull pain or ache in the back or over the hips, stomach trou ble, desire to urinate often or a burn ing or scalding in passing it; if after passing there is an unsatisfied feel ing us if it inu^t be at once repeated, or if the urine has a brick dust de posit or strong odor. When these symptoms are present, no time should be lost in removing the cause. Delay may lead to gravel, catarrh of the bladder, infisination, causing stoppage, ami sometimes requiring the drawing of llm urine with instru ments. or may run into llrighi’s dis ease, the most dangerous slage of kidney trouble.
