ered 20 Years. M RS. MARY LEWIS, wife of a promi nent farmer, and well known by all old residents near Belmont, N. Y,. writes: "For twenty-seven years I had been a constant sufferer from nervous prostra tion, and paid large sums of money for doc tors and advertised remedies without bene fit. Three years ago my condition was alarming: the least noise would startle and unnerve me. I was unable tosleep, hada number of sinking spells and slowly grew worse. I began using Dr. Miles’ Restorative Nervine and Nerve and Liver Pills. At first the medicine seemed to have no effect, but after taking a few bottles I began to notice a change: I rested better at night, my appe tite began to improve and I rapidly grew better, until now I am as nearly restored to health as one of my age may expect. God blessDr.Miles’Nervine.‘’| Dr. Miles' Remedies are sold by all drug gists under a positive guarantee, first bottle benefits or money re funded. Book on dis eases of the heart and nerves free. After the naval battle at Santiago, according to John R. Spears’ letter in the New York Sun, there was a most unusual and impressive scene on board the Texas : “Capt. Philip called all hands to the quarter deck, and with Lared head, thanked God for the almost bloodless victory.” “I want to make public acknowl edgement here,” he said, ’’that I be lieve in God, the Father Almighty. I want all you officers and men to lift your hats, and from your hearts offer silent thanks to the Almighty.” “All hats were off. There was a moment or two of absolute silence, and then the overwrought feeling of tiie ship’s company relieved them selves in three hearty cheers for their beloved commander.” That was a thrilling incident show ing a magnificent spirit and a grand character of which heroes—Christian heroes—are made. The country is safe when such a spirit rules the navy, and He who commands the sea stoops to bless the people. * —- —— Mr. B. F. Holmes has sold his lot on Frederick street to the 0. R. & C. R. R. Co. It is believed that this is an initial step toward tiie extension of the line on to Clifton, Glendale, Spartanburg, etc. The O. R. A 0. also purchased u portion of the I. J. Newberry lot which adjoins Mr. Holmes. The deeds to the property were transferred Tuesday. Mr. Sum McMurry, who lives near Cleveland .Mills, in Cleveland county, N. C., while engaged in digging a well called to his wife and daughter to let down a rope so he could ascend. When he had almost reached the top lie suddenly turned loose and fell back. His head struck a rock and the blow killed him instantly. The accident occurred last Saturday. A NEW TRIUMPH. The Dreaded Consumption Can be Cured. T.
