Esther, wife of Gile Thompson who was murdered in tim county some months ago, and his son Whee ler have been committed to jail by Magistrate J. \V. Alexander, for al leged complicity in said murder. Some one went into the dining room of Mrs. li. A. Walters last Satur day night and relieved the cupboard of broiled ham, butter, loaf bread, huscuit and salad. No special clue, hut when they come again they will he disappointed. Rev. J. L. Yuss will preach at the First Baptist church next Sunday morning, and Rev. B. P. Robertson will preach Sunday night on “What drunkennc.-s will do for the home.” All are most cordially invited to at tend these services. In a personal letter to the editor, Mr. .1. L. Strain assures us that he is still in the ring of the correspon dence and that neither a good run nor a had stand will give him the big head nor the sore head. I will give in structions that commencing with Monday next, the 21)th, Gaffney will be a flag stop for J7 and :IS, for pas sengers ticketed to any other point that these trains now stop at. Death will never knock] at our d. ar sisters Mansion. In Heaven there is no death or sorrow. Our beloved sister, Mrs. L. C. Ma bry. breathed her last, last Saturday night, March 2()th, 18517. She died on her hitiiday, being 11 years of age at the time of her death, and was the mother oi eleven children, eight ot whom survive her. Mr. L. C. Mabry lias the sympathy of the entire com munity of Asbury. ?Jay the Lord bless the father ami his little child- dren. Sister Mabry was a member of Elbethel church for a number of years. She made her husband a good wife, and her children a good mother, and lived a Christian life. Rev. F. (;.
