Jones of tins city, died last Saturday morning at his home. Dr. Norman was a man of most exalted character, fine sense, and whoso death will be regretted by ail who knew him. Sunnystde Cleanings. I The first campaign meeting in Cherokee county v. ::s held at Mabry’s mill last Thursday when a number of Cherokee candidates dc liverd their maiden speeches. Rev. C. E. Robertson will conduct services in the Methodist church neqt Sabbath afternoon at J5:30 o’clock. A cordial invitation is ex tended to all to attend. The candidates will speak here to day, and at Blacksburg to-morrow. The same good order that has char acterized the campaign so fur will doubtless prevail on both occasions. Mr. Wofford Humphries returned Saturday from Baltimore, Md. where he has been taking a course in phar macy, and has accepted a position with the Cherokee Drug Co. Wofford is a nice and popular young man and the Cherokee Drug Co., are fortunate in securing his services. Mr. D. L. Vassey, of Thickety, was in the city Monday, on business. General Chick Smith, of Clover, S. C. is in the city, visiting friends. E. P. Macomson. of Mercer, Yvas in the city Tuesday. Isaac Patrick, of Mercer, man aged to pull through the mud Tues day, and transact business in the city. Mr. Robert Rountree, manager of tiie Company Store, left last Thurs day for the Northern markets. W. C. Lipscomb, the great seed potato man of Wrights, S. C. was in the city Monday. W. A. Melton and little daughter, arrived last Tuesday, and will make this their future home, Charlie Dalton, a popular Winston, X. C. drummer, was in town Tues day. J. Alfred Whisonant. of Blacks burg, was in town Tuesday. I>. M. Poole, of Pine Grove, was among The Ledger’s callers Friday. Richard Bains, of Asbury, spent Friday night in the city. Mr. Bains is a progressive planter of his section and had cotton on the market. Capt. W. H. Richardson, spent a day in the Spartan city, lust week. J. D. Jones returned to the city Monday, after a ten days absence. F. G. Stacy was in Charlotte, Mon day, on business. Jolly Cliff Clary from Sunny-side, was in the city Saturday.
