The patient I refer to has used the water freely at home for seareely a month now. with more beneficial results than from months spent at different noted lithia springs in different parts of the United (states, Ijesides long continued use of the same waters at home. The accident occured near the crossing opposite the office of the Gatlney Manufacturing Company about <> :30 o'clock, and the evidence adduced at the coroner’s inquest, held by I. G. Sarratt, Esq., and jury, release the railroad company of all blame in tiie matter. According to eye witness it seems as if Hawkins was drinking and was crossing the track and that at the same time a shifting engine was en gaged in shifting cars. His hat blew off and he started back to get it. Fred Destaffino was an eye witness to the affair. He was standing near a seed house and hollered at Hawkins to lookout, that the train was com ing. Hawkins did not seem to hear or at least paid no heed to the warn ing, and the train bore down upon ! him, knocking him down and run- ; ning over his body, j The body was terribly n.angled. , The neck was broken, the bowels ! bruised, the .right hip crushed and ] the left hip bone fract ured, and he i ai.^o sustained three scalp wounds. Squire I. G. Sarratt empaunelled a jury which rendered the foliowing verdict: “Deceased came to his death by carelessly stepping upon the rail road track in front of a moving train." The body was removed to the home of the brother-in-law of the unfortu- n;;!o man, T. W. Hendrick, where it received all due attention, and was buried Tuesday. Ed Hawkins was not a prosperous man of the world but all who knew iiim sooko of him as a clever, good fel low,-and his only fault was his inclina tion to take a dram. He leaves u wife and a number of children to mourn his loss. — •— - — LITTLE LOCALS. r# Wc Offer You a Remedy Which Insures SAFETY to LIFE of Both Mother and Child.
