We have now in stock the largest and most
varied line of Cook Stoves and Ranges we
have ever been able to show at one time.
We can sell you a small, light weight, poorly
mounted stove for a little more than nothing,
and hardly worth that; or we can sell you a
medium grade Stove at a medium price, but
when it comes to a good Stove at a fair price
you save money, for we guarantee every one
of them to cook and bake right or you get
your money back. You stand no chance to £jose Prices
lose anything. J
The above illustration represents but one
of the styles we handle in several sizes and is
guaranteed in every way. If this kind don’t
suit you we have others in almost endless va
riety and styles, and will take pleasure in
showing you through our new Sample Room,

The Democratic Candidate Addresses
a Large Crowd.
guile u crowd of Gaffney people
attended the Bryan speaking in Char
lotte hist Thursday. An immense
crowd wgs present, it being estimated
at from 15,000 to 20,000. .Mr. Bryan
spoke for about thirty minutes and
his every utterance was applauded.
Mis speech was devoid of sarcasm or
abuse for his opponents and full of
argument for his cause, ile is a
graceful and ilucnt speaker. Those
who had an idea that they were iroi"g
to hear an anarchistic r r socialistic
address w-rc disappointed, as no ut
terance of his could be so distorted as
to convoy the idea that he was en
deavoring to array class against class.
He simply put forth the Democratic
proposition that alter due considera
tion he had concluded that free silver
at 10 to 1 would benefit the greatest
number of the people of the i'nited
States and, therefore ho was for the
greatest good to the greatest number.
That was his deduction, and he asked
no man to vote for him who did not
believe that the cause he represented
was a just one and that ho was per
fectly sincere in its advocacy.
Mr. Bryan has a striking personal
ity and truth and honor are depicted
in his every utterance and gesture.
We want to see him inaugurated
next March.

A Sad Death.
It is with sadness that we record
the death of our worthy townsman,
Mr. Wiley W. Hayes, which occurred
last Friday afternoon in this city at
his home on Logan street after a long
illness, which lie bore with the pa
tience and submission of a true Chris
tian. He was buried at Providence
church last Saturday in the presence
of a large collection of his sorrowing
friends. The funeral services were
conducted by his pastor, Rev. B. 1*.
Robertson, assisted by Rev. C- F-
Robertson of the Presbyterian church.
Mr. Hays has lived here a number
of years and was a most popular
shoemaker and had so conducted him
self as to have the confidence and
esteem of the whole city. He con
nected himself with the Baptist
church some years ago and lived a
most consistent life and died rejoic
ing in ins faith. He leaves a highly
esteemed widow and several children
who have our sincere sympathy.
May the Husband of the widow and
the Father of the fatherless be with
them.

Cooper-Limestone Institute.
The open n <; of the fall session of
the Cooper-L tnestone Institute last
1 week was a decided success. There
are now abour. forty-live boarding

j not in yet. This added to the large
patronage from the city makes about
one hundred pupils in attendance at
present. This is a fine prospect fur
the present session and bespeaks
greater success in the future.
