I was •o reduced in health that 1 -weighed •nly eighty pounda. “After lingering for throe yeara, having been treated by four doctors, I wa* finally told that I was incurable, and that I would have to submit to the painful operation of having the bone •craped, or it would be necessary to amputate the limb. This I positively fhfused to submit to. **A friend recommended S. S. 8., knowing of its wonderful reputation as a blood remedy, and when I had finished one bottle I felt an improve ment. I grew better as I continued the medicine, and after taking six bok- ties I was entirely well, my skin waa dear and pure, and 1 have no sign of the terrible disease. I gained in health •nd strength until I now weigh 130 pounds, and all my relatives and friends are astonished at the wonder- lulcure made by S. f*. 8.“ The above is but one of the many wTKidcrful cures being made daily by # 8.8.S. Experience has shown that the doctors are absolutely unable to cure diseases of tlie blood, and of the many Mood remedies offered to the public ko-day, S. S. S. is the only one which eurcs*obstinate and deep-seated cases. For real blood troubles, S. 8. S. has AO equal. It wipes out completely the most obstinate cases of blood diseases, which other remedies do not seem to touch. S. S. S. gets at the root of the disease, and forces it out permanently. & & S. is guaranteed Purely Vegetable vsd is a positive and permanent •are for Erysipelas, Scrofula, Eczema, Tetter, Cancer, Rheumatism, and ah traces erf bad ^blood. In response to a kind invitation Tun Ledger and Flaw Picker spent just Saturday picnicing with the whole-souled people of Etta Jane and Thompson’s mill. The day was most auspicious, the crowd was lively and jovial and altogether the occasion was one long to be remembered. On the way down Friday evening wo stopped at the beautiful and hos pitable home of goniel Calvin Whiso- nant, where we fed our faithful steed and partook of supper. Mr. Whiso- nant and wife are geniel host and hostess and fortunate is the person who has the pleasure of being their guest. After lingering until the eleventh hour we reluctantly took up our journey, reaching the home of our merry friend, James L. Strain, just as the midnight hour chimed out upon the soft summer air. Our wel come was most hearty and we were made to feel perfectly at home dur ing our entire stay. It is a neatly printed pamphlet full of information concirning tho summer resort s along the line of that great system, giving in detail the names of tho leading hotels, the rates and the names of their proprietors. It also sets forth in an able manner the attractions of the different summer resorts. Tho South ern has done and is still doing a great deal to build up this section. That means business for them. They are ( running the railroad for business and not for their health or for amusomertt. That’s proper. None of us are working for fun. Its a pleasure to do business with business people like the South ern. Somebody might say, ‘‘Oh he rides on a pass and is blowing the railroad on that account.” Nothing of tho sort. We have an advertising contract with the Southern and pay them the equivalent in advertising for the pass and this newspaper is in no respect under any obligations to tho Southern Railway Co. The exchange of courtesies is mutual. This notice is what we would give any great business enterprise that was helping to build up this com munity. / The . Southern offers a choice of mountain and seaside resorts, the surf bathing and sea breezes of some of the most delightful* resorts of the Atlantic Coast or the cool mountain breezes of Swannanoa.
