A visit to the new mill Tuesday revealed ttie fact that evt rything is getting in shape nicely. The new superintendent. .Mr. 8. L. Cutting, courteously conducted The Lkpuzii t hrough the entire building, explain ing in detail in an entertaining and instructive manner, the working of the wonderful pieces of mechanism. All the machinery is not in place yet but busy workmen are at work plac ing it in proper shape and hundreds of fine looking, contented mill oper atives are at work on that portion which is ready for operation. There are now employed in tho two mills between four and five hundred peo ple and Mr. Cutting says when all t he machinery is placed the company will carry about seven hundred peo ple on its jnty roll. The yarn'and cloth now being turned out is as fine as any in t he 8outh. We noticed among the employees and attachees Mr. Wardlaw Moor man. one i*i Columbia’s best young gentlemen, and Mr. Green Curvin, an ( .penenccd mill man formerly of Charlotte, who have cast their lot with us.
