In some manner Logan got his arm tangled in a line and the ! mule moved olf while he was in the I act of striking. Dr. .1. Roddy Miller! ettended the injured son of Ham. A dusky female inhabitant of “Chinch Row” made things lively for her neighbors Monday night by a general crazy spell. She was arrested by Officer Lipscomb for disorderly conduct. Mayor Littlejohn titled her $2, in default of which she was given two hours to leave city. She left. • • Church Items. There will be services at the Sec ond Baptist Church Sunday by the j pastor, Rev. J. \V. Walker. In the forenoon lie will speak from Proverbs 14:12. In the evening lie will speak from II Timothy 1:12. The public are cordially invited. Rev. C. E. Robertson goes to Salem and Mt. Tabor Saturday and Sunday to assist in the installation of the pastor of those churches, Rev. Mr. Owens. As a consequence the com munion services at the Presbyterian church next Sunday will be postponed until the fourth Sabbath of this month. Rev. B. P. Robertson’s subject for Sunday morning will be “The Sab bath; shall we obseive the first or seventh day for the Subbath?” “Re member the Sabbath day to keep it holy.” Evening: “If God he for us, who cun be against us?” The First Baptist church earnestly requests all to attend celebration of Lord’s Sup per at morning service. • •*•» Other Locals on Pages 6 and 7. Paul sells a lot of goods along the line of the Southern. Mrs. Alice Starke and daughter, Miss Ethel, of Scranton, Pa., are the guests of the family of J. G. Gallo- ' way. Col. T. B. Butler, of Union, S. C., j was in the city Tuesday and Wednes- | day. Col. Butler is quite a favorite here and we would like to see him lo cate in our midst. Clusian Hopper, of Sticey Shoals, was in the city several days the past week visiting relatives and friends. Claud Tolleson, now of Spartan burg, one of Gaffney’s old hoys, was in the city last Sunday with his wife whom lie married in Iowa Claud left Gaffney five years ago, since which time he has taken in all New England and the North West. He has had a lively experience during his absence and relates interestingly, and with a regular Claude-like zest. Claude and his beautiful and accom plished wife were heartily greeted by Ids relatives and hosts of friends all of whom trust that before a great while that Gaffney will be their home. Judge .LJ. Met Mure, of Chester, was in the city Tuesday looking after his interest in this section. Mrs. T. (’. Petty was among the crowd who left Monday to take in the Exposition. Mr. and Mrs. R. I*. Roberts and Miss Mary Deal, of Cherokee Falls, spent Monday in Gaffney. Mr. Rob erts is the popular treasurer of Cher okee Falls Manufacturing Company and lie informs us that his new mill is running on full time and the outlook j is very encouraging. Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Jones and Miss | Fannie and Sumter Littlejohn left Monday for the Exposition. H. L. i’arks, of the Bee Hive, re turned from the northern markets lust Saturday where he replenished the stock of the Bee Hive. Mrs. Win. R. Lipscomb, Mrs. Hil liard Smith, Misses Alice Thompson and Ola Kendrick left Monday for the Atlanta Exposition. Mrs. Ballard, Mrs. Geo. Nutting and Mrs. Osborne, three of Blacks burg’s charming residents, were in the city last Saturday on a shopping tour. Their presence brought good cheer and brightneas to a niM^hcr of Gaffney people and they returned to their home with the fond hope of their friends that they might come oftener and stay longer. While here they were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Broad Gaines, o.i Limestone Avenue.
