Denver, April 17.—The open air mass meeting held from the steps of the cap- itol yesterday afternoon in honor of the silver agitators, General Warner, of New York, and ex-Congressman Sib ley, of Philadelphia, was one of the largest that Denver has ever seen. Long before the hour which had been set for the opening the people began to gather, and at 2 o’clock there were many thousand listeners. Excursion trains brought in hundreds from the mining camps. On the steps of the Cap itol and about the great arcade were gathered many distinguished colored citizens. The air was delightfully mild and the sunshine brilliant. For an hour before the time set for tho speeches bands played. Judge A. W. Rucker introduced Congressman Sib ley, who was greeted witli cheers. He said he had walked every step of tlie way from Fishkill. He was in this city at one time iu the vicinty of Hudson street hospital. Before surrendering he gave the police a light. He is scratched all about the faee and arms. Perry was the last of the live luna tics who escaped to be captured. All got away on last Wednesday night. Perry got further away from the asylum than any of the others. lie has succeeded in putting about one hundred miles between him and the asylum.
