In the year 1818. I selected 0 rows of ?j I ''corn of equal hngth, and planted and, cultivated in every respect alike, as near j ', as possible. From three of the rows, I had the blades all stripped off at the usual fodder pulling season, and upou the remaining I three, wore all left When tho corn was j thoroughly dried upon .those stalks- froiu 1 which the fodder wn.s stripped, I had a/M ' gathered. Upon oounting the number of | ears in each lot I" found that tho parcel 1 ' which was gathered from the stelks with i 11 tho fodder stripped off ont uuniberod nubk bins and all tho other, about thirty; but 1 ( upon weighing tho two, notwithstanding ' the other, lot counted the most, tho corn * 1 taken trow the f talks, npon which tbobla^ des were left, weighed 20 or 30 ^bs. ? the most whon weighed upou the cob. I It was then shelled, and tho parcel with 1 tho blades left oq still out weighed thuoth* er by 28 lbs. I then measured and weigh' ed it, with view of ascertaining how much * each lot would weigh to the bushel, and 1 found the oorn takou from the stalks with t the blades stripped off to weigh 52 pound" 1 to the bushel, aud that take* from the r stalks with the blades left on weighed 711 lbs. to the bushel.
