Manning, entertained a number of his young friends with a dance at the Sweetwater country club Friday evening. Mrs. Martha Owens, of Kline, was called to Barnwell on Monday night on account of the illness of her sister, M rs. S. R.'Goodson. Mrs. Tommie Nimmer, of Thomas- ville, Ga., is the guest of her mother, Mrs. Ella Brabham, at the Hotel Diamond, this week. B. W. Finlayson, of Salisbury, N. G., spent the week-end in Barnwell with his wife, \tho is manager of the local Western Union office. Mrs, B. W. Sexton has returned home after a pleasant visit to Mrs. R. S. Dicks at Chapel Hill, N. C. She was accompanied upon her return by Mrs. Dicks, who will spend several days visiting relatives and friends in Barnwell, Columbia and Orangeburg. LITTLE-GIRL CELEBRATES FOURTH BIRTHDAY. Mrs. W. E. Giles entertained a num ber of little girls and boys at her home on upper Main Street on Fri day afternoon in honor of her little daughter, Shirley Anne, w r ho reache? her fourth milestone. After a number of game® the children were invited in to the dining room. Centering the dining room table was a lovely white cake, beautifull decorated and tapped with four pink candles. The room was made attractive by tatsefully ar ranged spring flowers. Ice cream, cakes and candy were served by the hostess. He was carried North by Mrs. Mixson’s relatives who were brought to Barnwell by her death, but died the day after his arrival at their home in Massachusetts.
