Mrs. Solomon Blatt was hostess last week to the members of the Wednesday Afternoon Contract Club. The high score prize was won by Mrs. W. L. Molair and the consolation was cut by Mrs. B. P. Davies. The only out-of-town guest was Mrs. Catherine Patterson, of New York City, who was also remembered with a gift. A salad course with coffee was served during the afternoon. President to Have 5,600 Birthdays. New York, Jan. 15.—Upwards of 5,600 parties will be held throughout the nation on the night of Jari. 30, 1935, when Americans, young and old, will honor President Franklin . D. Roosevelt on the occasion of his 53rd birthday anniversary. The proceeds from these parties will be used to combate infantile paralysis. Seventy cents of every dollar raised will be used! for the “lehabttttaUon of^fndt- -capped children- within the community raising the fund or within the nearest gcogiaphic unit of which the com munity is a part. The other 30 cents will he turnd over by President Roose velt to a national committee appointed by him for widening the research ef forts timed at wiping out the disease Itself. Col. Henry L. The program, which will include an address by President Roosevelt, will feature dance and ol-chestra music from cities in all sections of the coun try.
