Browning, of Blackville, was dismissed from the Baptist hos pital in Columbia Tuesday. The friends of Sheriff J. B. Morris were glad to see him out again, this week after a short attack of illness. - The Rev. H. H. Stembridge, Jr., was admitted to the Baptist hospital in Columbia. The members of the Wednesday Af ternoon Contract Club were entertained last week by Miss BeB&e (Pattefson at the home of Mrs. S. V. IRWvn. The high score prise was won by Mrs*- Solomon Blatt and the insolation was cut by Mrs. S. V. Brown. A salad course was served. * MRS. CREIGHTON ENTERTAINS U. D. C. CHAPTER. T Mrs. T. D. Creighton was hostess to the members of the-Johnson Hagood Chapter, U. D. C., Friday afternoon at four o’clock. Quite a number at tended and a most interesting meet ing was held. Mrs. F. S. Brown, president, was in 4he chair, The meeting was opened with the beautiful Ritual of the Con federacy, followed by the Lord’s prayer in unison. Repoftsfforh allcommittees made, minutes read and report given. A Children 1 was stressed. At one time this chap ter had two flourishing children’s chapters and the member* are anxious to re-organize at least one chapter, the children of today being the co zens of tomorrow, A splendid paper prepared by Mary Brown, daughter of the president, was read, the subject being “Some facts about the War Between the States.” The next meeting will be hely with Mrs. W. H. Manning on the evening of the 30th inst. The hostess served a delicious sweet course. D. A. R. Motors as sales and service for Ford car*.' The many friends of Dr. A. T. Russell will learn with regret that he is seriously ill at the Baptist hospital in Columbia, although there has been some slight improvement in his con dition since he was carried there Mon day afternoon suffering from heart and kidney trouble. Hi* early re covery is hoped for. JUNIOR-SMART SET BRIDGE CLUB. Friday afternoon M£s. Solomon Blatt was hostess to the Junior-Smart Set Bridge club. Greene on last Friday even ing. The Regent, Mrs^ Lu^M. Cave, opened the meeting With prayer, fol lowed by the Flag salute and Ameri can^ creed. During the business session, min utes of the last meeting, as well as reports from the treasurer and regis trar were read. The chapter during the past month forwarded to the* girl’s school at Tamassee a large/box of towels, as weil as hundreds' of soa wrappers, and a letter of apprecia tion was received and given at the meeting. The chapter will sponsor a picture at an early date/and has selected “Gabriel Over the White The Toy Orchestra will also -play on this occasion.
