Bi:. t ■ i: Nobody's Business By Gm McGm. !♦♦»♦»♦»♦»♦♦»♦♦«>♦>♦♦♦♦♦! 8p—klnf of Morgeri. " "■ ■■■■■■ « 1.—The Widow Brown'* * family wm merged last week with Widower Jonee’ ^ family. Mr*. Jones become* the head of the new organization and own* controlling interest therein. Her holdings prior to the merger were as folows: Sam, Sue, Joe, Dick, Jule, Bill and the twina, Mark anjd Remark, giving her 8 share*, while Mr. Jones contributed only 7 shares, vizzly: Ed, Ned, Ked, Med, Zed and Jed. They will produce family fusses, and will prob> ably issue some new stock 2.—0. M. Aull merged his farm with a Ford during December, thus waking 1 mortgage do the work of 2. His affairs will be handled in the future by the Commercial Credit Cor poration of New York. He had no wily to get about but now he has a way to get about . . . half enough for his household to live decently on. The Ford will ensble Mr. Aull to be relieved of the arduous duties of the farm in time and then he can move l to town and get a job selling others on the installment plan. S.—Old man Kluts merged his 4 hound dogs with old man Smith’s 4 beagle pups Saturday afternoon and a special dividend of 32 rabbits, 6 squirrel 2 possums and 1 polecat was declared about sun-down. The pre ferred shares were rabbit hash and polecat mash, and same being.pro rated on a 1-dog basis, that is—the dogs that caught the most game were given credit according to their inter est in the case, and that’s why old man Klutz went home hungry and threatened to sell his hedge collaterals abort. 4.—A merger of much concern is a- brewing. The curb interests are sat isfied that Miss Sudella 1 Hopscotch will soon be able to take over Mr. Iben Soaked, and move both plants into the Soaked building. Mr. Soaked \o9t his wife by Chevrolet common about 6 weeks ago and as he has al ready begun to dye his mustache and send his collars to the laundry, the ticker-tape (gossip) has it that “It won’t be long.” By this merger, the stockholders will be able to reduce t the cost of running one family by 1 cook and 1 washer-woman and 1 nurse. — 5.—Another merger that is calcu lated to reduce overhead is the going together of the Goober parcher and Hot Dog stand of Jack a^d Jill. At present it is costing Jack 15 cents a day to manage his parcher and Jill is paying a like sum to operate his sweating poodle oorporation. After the merger, Jack will run both the parcher and the other institution while Jill loafs, and the next week they will be functioning vice versa. Jack’s common stock will become pre ferred and Jill’s preferred stock will become common, but neither wHl be listed on the exchange until the pres ent panic is cured by Mr. Hoover. (There being no further mergers in prospect, the meeting was adjourn ed sine die.) Table Manners. I was invited out to dinner the ,%ther evening. I gladly accepted. The hostess told me to make myself at home. * I did so—I spilt tfrmvy all over my vest and got strangled on the ^coffee the very first thing. I mint much at eating away from _ nohow. Folks act too flow a table to rait me. When I dy for a diah, I don't to everybody else b me. Lota of times, ’ choice piece of • certain person was afflicted with too big nera. ** . supply of table man- I was courting my present wife for the first time once. I stayed over for supf>er that night. I was just about as Scared when we sat down to the table as I ever was in my life. I was afraid her ds^ddy would call on me to ask the blessing. I bent my head over to Wait on him and as his’n was sort of long, when he got through, I had sweated about a half pint of real sweat in my plate. Another thing that bothered me during that meal was my swallowing organs. I knew it was nice to make no noise at all when you swallow, say, a sip of milk or a bite of ham. But I just wish you could have heard my throat it said: “G-r-r-u-r." If you can't imagine just exactly how that fuss sounds, kindly hang around a fcow till she swallows her cud. While handling a piece of steal^ on his plate, his foot slipped end his knife made s great gash feroas his jaw. He is fine when it comes to shovelling in food with a knife. He rarely ever lets anything fall off of it, and if such a thing would happen, he’s such an expert with dinner tools, he’d catch the morsel with his fork before ft hit the floor or table cloth. There are a great many new ways to eat here of late. They are all fairly satisfactory to me except this thing of having to help everybody’s plate with every kind of food you have on the table before you can take a single bite.* And that goes for des- sart, too. But taking into considera tion the fact that I never saw a knife and fork till I was 19, I think 1 do pretty well. 66 6 is a Prescription for jCokU, Grippe, Flu, Dengue, Bilious Fever and Malaria.
