Jacobs, of Clinton, i* of fering a loving cup and individual medal to the best interference or team play man in the State each year. Says Mr. Jacobs: “The reason for suggesting the idea was that he is the unsung hero on the team, the most valuable player on the team, by virtue of the fact that he is strictly a team play man, willing to take all the hard knocks and do all the hard work, and see his fellowmen get all the credit.” And how true that is in the gr$at game of Life! Did you ever stop and think of the thousands of uncomplain ing, unsung heroes in every-day life— those who go quietly about “running (interferenlcq,” that th^ir more bril liant fellows may put some big idea “over”? Of the thousands of uncom plaining, self-sacrificing parents who are daily and weekly and monthly “running interference”—taking the hand knocks—that their boys and girls may be given opportunities to “score touchdowns”? Nobody to pin medals on these “un sung heroes and heroines”! Too of ten, little or no appreciation from those for whom they are “running in terference”! But, ah, how necessary they are irv the great game of Life! Of course, touchdowns are sometimes scored on the individual merits of the individual player, but usually they are the result of teamwork—on the part of the unsung henoes. By all means, let's give them their full share of credit—on the football field mrd in the more serious game of Life! Barnwell, S. Now i f the time to think about your Christmas shopping—and not to glop at merely thinking about it. When you go shopping now for Christ mas instead of later, you do yourwelf a great favor as well as expressing a fine spirit of cooperation with the mer chants that have the privilege of your patronage. You avoid the last minute rush. You have larger stocks to chooee from. You are sure of getting what you want. Nothing is "all sold out” yet, though it may be when the late shopper comes 'round for it. You help every clerk whose Christ mas labors you lesson by doing your shopping in advance and not bothering him when he is most busy. You have plenty of time left which to correct errors. You have more time in which to compare prices and examine quality. When you shop at the last minute, you are all too likely to buy “any old thing” to get it over with. We can’t Urge you too strongly to do your Christmas shopping NOW! It’s an Important matter that shouldn’t be left for the last minute. Dunbarton, S. Greene, of Elko, Barnwell County, was one of the party from the Edistk)-Sla.vannah counties investiga ting the dairying activities in Missis- •ippi. He was “sold” on the possi bilities of drawing profits from cows his own section. Mr. Greene has shown by his works that he is “sold.” He has begun the building up of his herd and hopes with in two years to own 100 dairy cows. Growing his own feedstuffs he is con fidant that he can net a profit of twen ty cents a gallon on milk. Mr. Greene, as a result of his per sonal study, believes that the main tenance of a large dairy herd will be the solution of the farm problem as it concerns him. He is sure his cows wiH pay and that conditions will per mit him to grow more cotton on a smaller acreage. The practical farmer is talking. He Is not speaking from knowledge ted from books.
