Mr. and Mrs. Gary Owens, former residents of Barnwell, have recently moved from Gough to Georgetown. Patterson entertained the members of the Junior Bridge Club last week. Little Anne Thomas, of St. George, is on an extended visit to Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Greene. The friends of J .E. Mahaffey are glad to see* him out again after a severe attack of malarial fever. His daughter, Edith, has also been quite dll with fever, but is much improved at this time. Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Witherspoon and little son, David, are on a visit to Sumter relatives. A. H. Ninestein, Esq., of Black- ville, was in town on Tuesday in at tendance upon court. Mgs. Julie B. Easterling has as her companion and helper, Mrs. J. G. Matthews, of Charleston. Mrs. Lewis Dubose and baby, of "Williston, are the guests of her mother, Mrs. E. R. Cail. Monday is Salesday and a large crowd of citizens from all sections of the county are expected here. Mrs. Lelia K. Best and son, James, together with Mrs. V. P. \Bonner, spent Wednesday in Barnwell. Mr. and Mrs. William S. Ray, Miss Emily Pate, Wilbur and Dick Pate, of Savannah, visited their fatho*, C. W. Pate, who has been ill at the home of his sister, Mrs. G. M. Greene. She helped.to make the club market a success by bringing in her fresh vegetables and fruits, butter, chickens and eggs. But aside from the income^ from her garden and poultry, Mi's. Renew has begun to realize a nice lit tle sum from her small pigs. Those she barbecues and sells at the market at forty cents p§r pound. Three Sat urdays Mrs. Renew sold in all five pigs averaging in weight twenty pounds each. The nice little sum of $40.00 helps materially whun one is sending a daughter to High School. Mra. Jjtenew finds from experience that a standard bred flock is more profitable than one that is run down, and she is setting to work to build up her'flock and to f<.*»d for greater egg production. Besides Mr. and Mrs. Renew there are six childdien in family, the two youngest being in school. Irene, sec ond to the youngest, a member of the Girls 4-H Chib at -Long Branch was the winner in the County Health Con test and attended the district contest which was held during the short course at Winthrop. Mrs. F. H. Dicks, who has * beautiful flock of White Wyandotte birds, has * 0 invited the club to meet *t her home where the lessons given by Miss •Neely, poultry specialist, can be made practical. This meeting will be hefd Thursday, September 27th, at three o'clock. There will be a splendid op portunity for all interested in the various phases of poultry production to get some information and instruc tion by attending the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Easterling and Mrs. B. L. Easterling left for Greensboro, N. C., Sunday. Mr. Eas terling will return in a few days, his family remaining for several weeks in the up-country. The friends- of Mrs. C. J. H. Still will be sorry to learn that she* has boten quite ill for two weeks. Her condition has slightly improved with in the past few days and it is hoped that she will soon be out again. G. M. Greene, Esq., was called to St. George on Friday on account of the serious illness of his son-in-law, M. A. Thomas. Thv friends of Mr. Thomas will be sorry to learn that his condition is still vary grave. Archdeacon Joseph Burton attended the meeting of the special Diocesan Convention in v Florence last week, when the Rev.
