The friends of Mrs. J. Gary Owens

turned to BamwelF after spending
several days hi the- Baptist Hospital
in Columbia, where she went for
treatment.

Death of Mrs. Garber.

The body of Mrs. Murray Garber,
of Allendale, who diejd Friday at the
Columbia hospital after ah illness of
several weeks, was carried to Mem
phis, Tenn., Sunday. She is survived
by her husband, one child, her par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. M. Guttman, of
Covington, Tenn., and a brother, J.
Guttman, of Covington. Mrs. Gar
ber was only 23 years of age and
her death was a great shock to her
many friends in Allendale.

The three-act comedy drama, “Pat
ty. Makes Things Hifin,” which w r aS

ium Monday ovening by the faculty
of the Blackville High School under
the auspices of the BarnwelD School
Improvement Association, was thor
oughly enoyed by quite a large audi
ence. The cast. of characters had
been well chos«n and the excellence
of the production showed that the
(various members of the company had

improvement association. This was

had been use^d for a play and it proved
very effective.

Stede states that he/was forced to
use his pocket knifd in self defense.
Renew’s «throat was cut in such a
manner that it almost severed hi§
head from his/body. The, wounded
man was .rushed to the Aiken County
hospital, but died before arriving
there. Coroner J. Tom Tarver has
not ye^ held an inquest. Renew was
a Yn^rt of about twenty-five and leaves
two ichildren. Steele is also about

The first meeting of the Chopin
Music Club/which is composed of the
music pupils of Miss Ella Louise Mo-
lair, who teaches at the Dunbarton
High School, was held last month with
Miss Molair at the high school build
ing in, that town. Tho second meet-
