Thtse ladies have recently organized a
Missionary Society for the Methodists
of Blackville in which a great deal
of enthusiasm is being manifested.
The deacons and lady councetlors of
the Baptist Church met in the Pas
tor’s study on Monday night at 8^0’-
clotk to discuss matUa*s pertaining to
church finances and discipline. This
council is proving of great advantage
in the solution of local matters.

I’he Busy Bee Embroidery club was
most delightfully entertained Thurs
day afternoon aU th^ home of Mrs.
E. H. Wetssinger. Four tables were
set and the afternoon passed most
pleasarttly with “Touring,” a new card
game. After many collisions, h a uling,
punctures and “out of gas” delays the
final longest tour was found to be
that of Mr*. T. J^. W ragg to whom
the hostess presented a lovely vase
containing bath salts. Mrs. Weissin-
ger assisted by Mrs. Sigsbey Grimes,
served a delicious sweet course. Th£

The girls and boys basketball team
played two games in St. Matthews on
Tuesday aftemoon. The St. Matthews
girls won by a small margin of 23 to
liL_J0ur girls played a .good- game
with the following line up: Martha
and Christabel Still, forwards; Hettie
Mathis and Mary Willis, centers; Ivy
Bates and Lena Mae Still, guards.
Miss Eva Clarke referee and Miss
Caldwell, of St. Matthew's, umpire.
St. Maltthews also defeated the boys
in an interesting game. At the close
of thi. first half Blackville was ahead
with a score of 8 to 2, but in the last
few minutes of play St. Matthews
proved themselves winners of the
day by a score of 14 to 12. Referee,
Mr. Wannamaker; umpire, Mr. Bycke.
The Green Parrots nut Thursday
afternoon at the home of Miss Myr
tle Altman at 4 o’clock. The following
were present: Mesdames M. Johnson,
B. E. Cooper, G. K. Fiekling, Misses
Eva Blume and Cecile Fiekling. The
afternoon was pleasantly spent sew
ing. Refreshments /consisting- of a
sweet course were served. The next
meeting will be at the home of Miss
