TAX COLLECTIONS FALL
^ BEHIND 1926 RECEIPTS
According to Capt. J. B, Armstrong,
treasurer of Barnwell County, tax col
lections this year are falling behind
receipts in 1926-1927. He estimates
that only a little over 60 per cent, of
the amount duo the State and county
has been paid, as compared wit^j about
68 per cent, to the same time last year.
One has heard s omuch lately form
government experts and others of the
improved condition of agriculture that
it is hard to reconcile the statements.
