ENJOY OUTING AT HOLMAN’S BRIDGE • ’ . * • A party of Barnwell people and three visitors from North Carolina and Georgia enjoyed an outing at Hodman’s Bridge, on the Edisto River, Sunday afternoon. After several of the younger members had ,taken a swim in the limpid waters of the Edisto, a picnic supper was spread under the trees. Those enjoying the afternoon were Mrs. T. D. Dunbarton, June 6.—Of much in terest to the many friends of Misa Lucile Frances Dicks, of Dunbprttm, and Mr. Alphas David Qonhor, Jr., of Barnwell, ia the announcement of their marriage which took place in the presence of a few dose relatives at the Williston Baptist parsonage last Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock, the Rev. W. R. Davis, pastor ^pf the bride, performing the ceremony. The bride was charmingly attired in a traveling suit of midnight blue and white georgette with all acces sories to match. Bfm. Cornufe Is the afttractivb daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Furman H. Dicks, of Dunbarton. She has a wide circle of, friends and her rare charm and (striking personality endear her to all who know her. Mr. Connor is a young man of sterling worth and character. He is a prosperous farmer of Barnwell, where the young couple will make then; home. Miss Butler, i« the daugter of the Rev. and Mrs. W. A. of Mstftirt Tenn. She re ceived her education in Martin and graduateri with honors from the Martin high school and two years later from the Hall Moody Junior col lege. She then taught two yearn in the Junior High school in Martin. • ‘ Last September she accepted a posi tion in the Ellenton High school and has just completed a successful year’s work. Mr. Greene is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel H. Greene of Dun barton and is a rising young business man of Ellenton. A bridge tournament under the auspices of (the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Barnwell Episcopal Church was greatly enjoyed Wednesday evening of last week «t the home of Miss Josie Davis. Eleven tables were ar ranged the reception hall and liv ing room. The high score priize for ladies was won by Mrs. L._ A- Cave, while Solomon Brown held the top score among the men. During the evening refreshments consisting of ice cream and cake were served. » ! ♦ ^ MISS KATHRYN .HOLLAND “ ENTERTAINS. Miss Kathryn Holland entertained a number of the younger set Mon day afternoon with a rook party in honor of Miss NeM Dunbar. Three tables were arranged and the twelve girls enjoyed the game immensely. The highest score was made by Sarah Patterson and Nell Dunbar. Miss Patterson, then pre sented the prize to Miss Dunbar.
