MAHAFFEY, Ticket Agt., Barnwell, S. C., Phone 5 ATLANTIC COAST LINE Dear People:— In as much as the impreifeion went out from the campaign meeting at Blackville that I am in favor of an increase of taxes on real property rather than indirect taxes, T take this method of correcting that mistake and setting myself right before the peo ple. I am not in favor qf an increase of '.(axes on real property, I will not stand for it, but will do everything in my power to prevent it. I am in favor of putting it on all luxuries rather than increasing taxes on real property. I am of the opinion, if we reduce the expenses of the State gov ernment by.an exercise of rigid econ omy, we w^uld have sufficient funds to carry on without a luxury tax, but If not, I am in favor of taxing all luxuries rather than incresing taxes on' real property. I am in favor of education, law enforcement, consoli dation of commissions jn State offices, elimination of some and curbing of others. I stand for the very beet things for all the people. I am in favor of equalization of taxation, but 1 am opposed to a general sales tax. or class legislation, but we must save the farms and homes at ad hazards. I do not favor and will riot stand for an increase of taxes on real property. I am not astride of the fence, as has been, charged by some, but instead, I stand for the best interest of aH the people. I am in favor of govern ment by the people, equal rights to ail a nd special privilges to none. I hope that I have made myself clear to all t^»e people; if rot, see me. Thanking you in advance for your support in. the coming election, I beg to remain yours for honest, conscien tious service. Respectfully. D. W. HECKLE, (Political Advertisement.) election. B. W.
