Makes Haul of Fish «AOne day last week. Game Warden Cilmore 8. Harley, accompanied by Mr. R. B. Kearse, both of Barnwell, went to the Ed is to River to investi gate complaints that fish were being shot. Their investigation proved that the coniplaints were justifiable, for af ter a short search they came upon two men—one in a tree with a rifle wnd the other in a boat to retrieve the ;fUh after they were shot. The officer and his companion were seen by the alleged violators of the fish law be- they were near enough to make an aVtMt and although they* had one of thern ^up a tree,” so to speak, both ] men "told out" and departed for parts Unknown, leaving their fish be hind them. Mr. Hhtjey says that, .while he regrets that he was unable to catch the men and have justice meted out to them, he certain! joyed the nice string of trout, jack, etc., that he found in the boatx The law Against trapping «fish is also being violated by unsportsman like fishermen on the Edisto River, The Bamberg Herald being authority for the statement that four game war dens found and destroyed about 40 ... traps week before last between New bridge and Cannon’s bridge, a dis tance of some four or five miles, and the officers, are sure .that they failed to find all of the traps. Violations of the fishing laws are becoming so numerous and wide spread that, unless the activities of the violators carr be curbed, fish of all kinds will be a scarce commodity in the streams of this section within a very few years. When a man can catch such magnificent strings of fish ■ with rod and reel or, hook and line, .anybody who is so unsportsmanlike! as to use traps or dynamite should l>c punished by imprisonment. under the direction of Miss Dot Meyer, Friday evening, June 19th, at 8:80 'o'cock.
