Just as no st ream can possibly rise higher than its source so' no church can make progress faster than its J0eople, says Dr. W. 11. Mills, a well known Presbyterian minister and pro fessor of rural sociology at Clemson (ollege. The piety and spirituality of the church are in direct propQrtion to the piety and spirituality in the hoies and in the lives of its members. Si) also, the intelligence and vigor which he church shows in supporting the work of its denomination, indicate the ntverago intelligence and financial abil ify of the people of its congregatIon. A live prayer meeting shows that ome members pray at home; a grow. iug Sunday school shows that the 7people are interested in the welfare of the children and the study of the Bible. D. W. HIOTT MADE TO FEEL HAPPY. : Easloy Progress. The members of Keowee church, near Honea Path, in Abbeville coun ty, of which Rev. D. Weston Hiott, is pastor, over remindful of a min isters comfort, sent by express last Wednesday a coop of twenty-two of as fine hens and roosters as we have seen anywhere for his Thanksgiving and Christmas. They were enough to make anybody feel good at this par ticular time, as everything is almost out of reach of the people. On to) of this a friend from the Pisgah Church of which ho is also pastor, came along with more fine chickens and a box of fresh pork. To say these kind acts of those thoughtful people were appreciated would be putting it lightly, as he is a man that appreciates any and all kindnesses shown him in any way, ;wl we do not know of a more true or worthy man of God than Mr. lliott. He is always ready and vill ing at all times to render assistance in any way in sickness, death or oth rwise when called upon. He never <ays "No!" We wish him many more years of usefulness in the ministry, 111(1 may his efforts be crowned with a rich harvest in the world to coeic.
