All ladies are cordially invited I to attend these' meetings, especially mothers. Alfred Hughes of Laurens county, made a trip to Pickens last Friday, driving a wagon through from Ware Shoals. He brought a tomb stone which he placed at the grave of his father, the late Larkin Hughes. - I At the state fair last week the Rhode Island Red chickens of E. H. Craig of Pickens took one first and one tird prize. There were entries from every section of the state and this is an ex cellent showing for the Pickens county birds. Joe H. Seaborn, a Pickens county boy and son of Rev. and Mrs. W. C.. Seaborn, spent several days last week with his parents near Pickens. He is located in Cornelia, Ga., and -is such a busy man that this was his first visit to his native county in two years. His many friends were glad to see him. The badly mangled body of Sletas Bridges, an eighteen year old white youth. was found near the railway track just outside of Central Saturday night. The young man was not dead, but was too weak to tell how he got hurt. He was taken to the Greenville hospital, where he died from his injur ies. It is supposed that he was struck by a passing train. The street hands are making some much needed improvements on Anne street. A sidewalk is being made from Nhain Street down in front of The Sent-! inel otlice and the street is being widen ed and graded. This is one of the most I needed and best pieces of work that has been done on the streets of Pickens in sometime and we hope to see the good work go on. Mrs. Weldon Christopher and Miss! Eva Christopher were hostesses last Friday afternoon when they delightfully (entertained the "Tatttlers" and the I visitors in town. During the after noon towels were hemmed and embroid ered by those present and presented to the bride of the week-Miss Ella Hiott.
