One of the important features oi the Harvest Jubilee will be the crown ing of the beauty queen, to take place at the State capitol on the evening of October 23d. In this ceremony the governor of the State will ofllclate .!assisted by a committee from the Co luinbia Chamber of Commerce, a com mittee of promnient Columbia ma trons, and four maids of honor, whc will attend upon the queen. Heads of various departments of the government agricultural interests of the State have been assembling in Ce- a lumbia the last few days, organizing' and directing plans for the State fair. U L. L. Dlaker, of Bishopville, organizer and supervisor of boys' corn and pig t clubs throughout the State, says he has e this year 2,250 boys in the corn and a, dpig clubs and that he is urging all ~ d who possibly can go to attend the i i State fair. He is now engaged in s de building a worknfin float, represen t e of the w fthe two organi zations, and ho is anxious that the ~ aI youths who compose this army of agri cultural experts come to Columbia that week. Thirty-three counties have I been organized for the pig clubs and 41 for the corn clubs,. in The State fair is offering prizes to the amount of $75 for the three classes of entries. Three first prizes of $12 each and a similar number of second and third prizes of $8 and $5, ~ b respectively, are to be awarded. In I addition to this amount The Duroc ~ Bulletin of Chicago is offering a silver t cup, valued at $60, for the best D)ur~c ~ boar under one year old. The Berk- t shire association offers tour prizes of r $12.50 each as follows: For the best purebred Berkshire E el gilt under one year old; for the best purebred Berkshire brood sow one year old, accompanied by litter; for the best purebred Berkshire boar un der one year old; and for the best purebred Berkshire boar over one year old.
