Mr. and Mrs. John Roper and Auditor N. A. Christopher and family attended the hometom ing at Mt. Carmel Saturday. Mr. R. E. Yongue has gone to Pendleton, where he has a con tract to remodel a dwelling house for M. M. Hunter of that place. Theie will be a family reunion at Mr. Marion Stephens' home the 7th of August. Everybody is cordially invited to come and bring well filled baskets. Dr. J. P. Jewell, who has been practicing medicine at Easley for the past year or two, moved this week to Piedmont, where he will locate and practice. Miss Gussie Cureton of Green. ville is here at the bedside of her mother, who has been quite ill. We are glad to report that she is some better at present. The Roanoke minstrels will give a performance at the Da cusville school auditorium Thursday night, August 5, 1915, at 8.30 p. m. Admission 10 and 5 cents. Rev. H. A. O'Kelly closed a revival meeting last Saturday, in which 84 members were ad ded to Six and Tweny church in Anderson county. Rev. Ful ton Childress, a Pickens county boy, did the preaching. A. D. Mann, Furman Smith and Paul Simmons of Plckens county were among the 140 young champion corn growers appointed by Governor Manning as delegates to attend the Uni versal Corn exposition at San Francisco August 5 and 6. Mrs. Mary Alexander, wvife of Merritt Alexander dropped dead while eating dinner at the home ofMr. Alexander's father about 4 miles south of Pickens, Aug. 2. Embolism of the heart was the cause of her death given in the physican's certificate. Mr. R. E. Yongue, contractor and builder of Pickens, has se cur'ed the contract for building the Peters Creek school house, and that is evidence that this district will have an up-to-date school building . The contract calls for the completion of the building by the first of October D)on't forget that the date, and prominent speakers, will be announced in this paper nexi week, for the prohibition rally to be given some time during this month! M. Gillespie, died Sunday, August 1, at her home near Flat -Rock church. She was 46 years of age and leaves a hus band and seven children to mourn her death. The funeral was conducted by Rev. S. R.
